Frequently Asked Questions Regarding your Donation
What is Hope for West Africa Foundation, Inc.?
Hope for West Africa Foundation is a nonprofit, HIV/AIDS ministry seeking to relieve the pain of those affected and infected by HIV/AIDS in West Africa by partnering with organizations in the region that are currently delivering care to the patients and orphans.
How does it work?
Through donations of money to Hope for West Africa Foundation, (HFWA), HFWA works with Partners to develop and fill their needs in program areas and individual clients. This includes but is not limited to providing skills acquisitions or education of orphans, mothers needing to earn a living, or prostitutes wanting a new life; building or renovating dining halls, dorms or clinics to provide better care and housing for Partner’s programs; purchase of vehicle or capital equipment for Partners to deliver better care; and supporting expats to assist in hospital administration.
HFWA helps organizations in West Africa (Partners) fill the gaps in their programs. It does not reinvent the already existing programs that Partners and governments provide. It fills in the holes of the programs.
How are the Partners selected?
Partners in need of assistance contact Hope for West Africa Foundation. HFWA board members visit the Partners and help them identify their current needs and write proposals to the Foundation. HFWA Board then votes on proposals and begins raising monies for the West Africa Partners proposals. The HFWA selection committee chooses proposals based on their level of need, willingness of the Partner to follow through with the individual or program, and Partner’s ability to provide all documentation required by US laws. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the proposals.
How are donations distributed and used?
Donations are received by HFWA and HFWA forwards the donations to the Partners for their project/ proposal. HFWA regularly follows up with Partners on the progress of the project/proposal. HFWA most recent audited financial statement is available by contacting us.
Who controls and manages Hope for West Africa Foundation?
A board of directors determines policy and oversees and guides the proposals. Board members are dedicated volunteers who are deeply concerned about the problems affecting those with HIV/AIDS in West Africa.
The HFWA headquarters office operates with a volunteer administrative staff, assisted by a core group of volunteer professionals.
