Faith Alive Foundation Vision

Restore the dignity of the person affected by HIV through holistic ministries: Medical, Social, Educational, Nutritional, and Spiritual.

Dr. Chris' Story

From a poor family, Dr. Chris promised God that if He would see him through medical school, he would devote his life to serving the poor. He graduated and became a faculty member at Jos University Teaching Hospital where to fulfill his promise he donated his salary and set up Faith Alive to serve the most in need, those with HIV, especially the widow. Beginning with nothing more than a small table he counseled people living with HIV in the market. With the donation of a small building, and their own incomes, Dr. Chris and his wife Dr. Mercy, a surgeon, opened a free medical clinic which grew to include a vocational training center, a vibrant HIV/AIDS support group, transitional housing and home based care program. Their example of living faith and humility inspires volunteers from other countries to embrace their mission. Ten years later after a devastating fire in 2006 destroyed essential lab equipment and medical records, a three story hospital building rose from the ashes with funding support from a California church. (Faith Alive Hospital) Minimally equipped, the hospital staff manages the care of 14,000 patients, a third who are being treated for AIDS.

Recognized as a best practice center, they provide training in their innovative holistic approach which merges spirituality and medical care.
