Karen Kennedy, Board Member

In January of 2007, while on a Vision trip to Nigeria, Karen became deeply moved and overwhelmed by the staggering amount of people she encountered who were infected or affected in some way, by the HIV/AIDS virus. Inspired by the selfless and caring acts of those she met, she became active with the Hope for West Africa Foundation, Inc., eventually becoming a board member. She shares the belief of the foundation that by working closely with their partners in West Africa, a difference can be made, on both a small and large scale.
Karen is a retired nurse, who retired to be a “stay at home” Mom. She was active in her daughters’ school in various capacities. Her most recent and rewarding experiences include becoming a hospice volunteer. She is the mother of two daughters, whom she considers to be her greatest joy and source of pride. Kate has just completed her first year at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Sara who has also volunteered at Faith Alive in Nigeria is presently in Ghana doing an internship with another non-profit organization.
